Judge Halts 6 Personal Injury Lawsuits Against GM

A bankruptcy court judge has stopped the personal injury lawsuits of 6 plaintiffs against GM, in an order filed yesterday.

The personal injury lawsuits were filed against the old GM , now officially known as Motors Liquidation Co.

However, according to the terms of the sale of the old GM, when the core of old GM was sold to new GM, personal-injury plaintiffs were prevented by the terms of sale from suing the buyer on account of autos sold before bankruptcy.

Phillies Phanatic facing Personal Injury Lawsuit

The Philadelphia Philies famous mascot, the' Phillie Phanatic', has no reason to be cheering and jumping around today as he is faced with a personal injury lawsuit from a 75 year old woman.

The incident occurred at a minor league game in 2008 and Ms. Crass is now looking for over $50,000 in injury compensation.

Joe Jackson, father of the legendary singer Michael jackson, has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against his son's doctor, Dr.Conrad Murray.

The lawsuit was filed on the first anniversary of the pop star's death, just in time to stay within the one year limit allowed for filing such a lawsuit.

In the suit, Mr. Jackson claims that Dr. Murray gave his son a powerful drug (the anaesthetic propofol) and of being slow in calling for medical help for the singer.

High Number Of Illnesses In Louisiana related to BP Oil Spill

CNN.com is reporting that 162 cases of illness have been reported to the Louisiana state health department, all related to the BP oil spill in the Gulf Of Mexico. Of the 162 reported cases, 128 were from people who worked on the oil rig or helped in the clean up operation.

The department’s weekly oil spill surveillance report says that since the oil spill occurred, 120 male workers, 8 female workers and 9 men and 25 women from the general public have complained of illnesses allegedly linked to the spill. The age of the people reporting illnesses ranged from between 18 and 64.

The task force set up by the National Insurance Crime Bureau (NICB) in Southern Florida to tackle auto vehicle insurance fraud seems to be working.

However, the task force's presence down south has led to criminals moving north to keep their illegal actions going.

Between 2008 and 2009, there appeared to be a 290% increase in questionable claims related to staged auto accidents, in Tampa, Florida.

Police investigating a minor personal injury accident made an extra discovery when checking out the accident; marijuana filled cookies.

State Troopers in New Lebanon went to check on 73 year old Ronald Bixby after he had been involved in a minor auto accident and, upon investigating the car, found a box of oatmeal cookies filled with marijuana. Further searching of the car led to the discovery of 15 more grams of marijuana.

Mr.Bixby was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and is expected to appear in New Lebanon Town Court on July 1.

Over 2 million cribs from 7 different manufacturers have been recalled due to fears that infants using them may become trapped, choke or fall from the cribs or suffer other injuries. The 7 million cribs were drop side cribs; cribs were the side can be dropped down so parents have easy access to the crib. It has been found that the drop down side can become detached and fall off completely or can become detached in such a way that a gap is created where a baby's head can become trapped and the danger of choking can become a very real concern.

The number of personal injury claims made in the UK has drastically increased, according to a Law Gazette report. The number of personal injury claims made in the UK rose by 31.8%, from 914 in 2006 to 1,205 in 2008. This is a surprising statistic as the Compensation Act of 2006 was introduced to try and reduce the number of personal injury claims made as it imposed registration requirements on claims management companies and created the Ministry of Justice's claims management regulator.
